About the work

Martine Jacobs: The Archive (1998-2007)Curatorial text by Cansu Waldron

"Spiritual searching flows throughout this archive, shaped by a childhood marked by silence and later journeys through India and Nepal. Curator Cansu Waldron observes that many pieces wrestle with the question: 'Where does empathy go when power fails?'

From 'Lonely Buddha', which presents stillness as endurance, to 'Life Is a Gamble', where a contemplative female figure and ancient scripts converge to express uncertainty as a lived condition, this collection captures the risks women navigate within technological and cultural systems. Originally rendered on a Pentium II, these digital artifacts are now preserved on-chain, bridging the gap between 20th-century digital pioneering and the future of provenance."
