About the work
This work, for me, is a reflection on the transience of everything. It is a vision of a world where humanity has vanished, but the traces of its existence still speak.
The decaying room, with its peeling walls and the dust that lies everywhere, symbolizes the relentless march of time. In this forgotten space hangs a masterpiece, a Van Gogh, seen by no one anymore. The paintings of Van Gogh represent for me the indestructible desire of humanity to create beauty, to capture and preserve the world.
In this work, I ask the question: What remains when we are no longer here? The answer is the art itself. Even if it is forgotten, covered in dust, the essence of the work remains. The painting by Van Gogh is no longer a precious possession, but has been reduced to its pure form: an object of beauty that transcends time.
It is a melancholic, yet hopeful thought. Hopeful because it shows that the power of art is so great that it can survive the dystopia. It is a reminder of the eternity of beauty, even when the civilization that produced it has long since perished.
